Anastacia Lyn Newkirk was born in Chicago, Illinois, on September 17, 1968, but due to the divorce of the parents (her father, Robert Newkirk, left the family when Anastacia was just 14 years) she moved to New York City, where she attended the "Professional Children's School" in Manhattan.
